New Beginnings

I am going to have lots of fun recording my experiences with my craft work on this blog, and I sincerely hope that readers of my blog will have fun along with me! I'm a wife and mom living in the mountains of North Carolina. With grateful thanks to my husband, I retired early following a 37-year career in human resources where I worked with many admirable people and a few dorks. I can usually be found at my desk in the family room working on my project of the day. Most of the time my project is beadweaving; other times my projects are crocheting, cross stitch embroidery, knitting, or some other form of jewelry making. Here is my current project of the day ...

These are beadwoven end pieces using 24kt goldplated Delica beads and blue iris metallic Czech seed beads. They haven't told me yet if they want to be a necklace or bracelet. The mailman hasn't delivered the dark blue Swarovski pearls I ordered from Fusion Beads. My fingers are crossed that the dark blue of the pearls is a good match to the Czech beads. I'll be working on this the rest of the day until I time-out to watch the new episode of Lost. I am a big fan of Lost! If you read this, I hope you'll comment and/or come back in the next day or two to see my progress.

I am very curious about the outcome of your conversation with this particular batch of seed beads ;)

Good luck with your blog, it will be exciting to follow it!

I wonder if any former workers will read your blog and wonder if they were one of the dorks. That made me laugh out loud!

Great start on your blog. Hope the blue pearl beads are a match.

Great start on your blog. Hope you're better than I am at keeping it up.

Hooray for you, Swanee, for getting your blog going!

I completely forgot that you're in the NC mountains. We're heading down there at the end of the month, still trying to find the "ideal" place to live. We have land in Clyde, but now we're venturing farther south to check out areas around some of the lakes.

Like you, I retired early. Isn't it great?!?!?!

Thank you everyone for your nice comments, and special thanks to Olga ... you're my very FIRST commenter! Same special status as "first Etsy customer". :) I'm still struggling with adding the links for EBW and BAO, but I'll figure it out, hopefully sooner than later! Glad I made you laugh BeadsForever. :) We should talk MaryLou!

I think for your first post to your blog that you did a wonderful job. Just keep writing like you did today and it will become second nature to you. Can't wait to see your finished piece.

Great start on blogging. Glad to hear someone else "talks" to their beads and that the beads talk back. lol Your beading life sounds delightful. I am now off to day job. BTW, I am also BIG Lost fan.

Hi Swanee, listen to those beads and let us know what they say. I hear and obey!

Congratulations Swanee on joining the blogosphere. I'm looking forward to see more work in process!

I really don't know how to do this, but I am so proud of you and didn't know that my sister-in-law was such a good writer. I know how great all of your crafts are.
See you soon.
Love Sherri
